The Sarah College is also involved in a number of outreach activities besides its regular courses, which are benefit to the Tibetan Diaspora community and other interested groups.
In-service training and a variety of workshops are run at the college with teachers attending from other regions in India, Nepal and Bhutan. This training provides valuable instruction in teaching methodology and can last from 3 weeks to 2 months. We also host in-service training for the Central Tibetan Administration employees to upgrade their Tibetan language and literature skills.
The college now has a full-fledged training building financed by Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to accommodate more training’s, workshops and seminars. It has 18 double rooms with attached bathrooms with hot shower, separate kitchen, dinning hall, classroom and a hall. Any Tibetan government or non-government organisation intending to conduct workshops or short-term training’s are most welcome. An advance booking is necessary for the training building.
ONE-MONTH INTENSIVE TIBETAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM for the Tibetan students attending Indian Universities conducted in May/June every year as per the request from the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The duration of the course is one month and normally from mid May to mid June. The course offer Tibetan grammar, history, poetry, calligraphy, Buddhist Philosophy and traditional performing arts. Students can apply by writing an application, two passport size photos and copy of your college identity card.
TEN-MONTH PRE-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TIBETAN YOUTHS ASPIRING TO WORK IN CENTRAL TIBETAN ADMINISTRATION is a two phase training program designed to train young Tibetan graduates aspiring to work in the Central Tibetan Administration. The first phase of the training is seven months (July – January) is to polish the Tibetan language, literature, history and general letter writing and office related correspondences in Tibetan language and English. The second phase (February-April) focus on the Administration, Leadership and Communication skills of the trainees.
Admission in this program is announced on Tibet.net and entrance examination into the program is conducted.
Some of the trained CTA staff’s are now serving as secretaries of different departments and many hold important positions in the exile Tibetan government.
